Real kids room: Meredith Gaston-inspired bedroom

More real kids' room goodness from the Ivens family for you today. Kelly Ivens took a different approach from her son Kirby's room when designing her daughter Lexi's space. The red, pink and white colour theme is built around two gorgeous Meredith Gaston original canvases, custom-designed to feature the family's dogs. It's a light, bright, inspiring room that I'm sure her daughter will love for years.

Lexi's Room (age 5)

Lexi's room has been designed to incorporate the bold red, pale pink and white colour palette in the artworks. It's bright, light and fun. The lush charcoal grey carpet is a great contrast and provides a strong platform for the light, bright colours - and ties beautifully with the dogs and touches of grey in the Meredith Gaston canvases. Keeping all the furniture white and the walls neutral allows the artwork to really shine.

Vintage-style Australian map hanging canvas

I've been looking for one of these Australian map hanging canvases for the longest time (look how great this one looks in Rowan's room). They are so old school-perfect for a kid's bedroom, toy room or study. There are limited quantities of vintage-style maps at a discounted price available through the Natural Wonders store on Temple & Webster right now :)

Aunty Cookie ampersand, home and addition cushions

You know, some designers just always seem to have their finger on the pulse (and that means designing and getting product to market ahead of the curve - no easy feat). One of those designers is also one of my favourite Aussie textile creators Shannon Lamden of Aunty Cookie fame.

I've written about Aunty Cookie before, but thought I would have a sneak-peek at her latest designs and just had to share these three gorgeous cushions with you. Let me present, for you to drool over: Ampersand, Home, Sweet Home, and Addition. Do you love?

You can find these crush-worthy cushions and more in the Aunty Cookie online store. Read more about Aunty Cookie here on Bondville. Hands up who loves Aunty Cookie?

Real Kids Room: grey chevron 2 year old boy's bedroom

I've featured on Meredith Gaston's gorgeous artwork here on Bondville before, so when I spotted Kelly Iven's childrens' bedrooms on The Wall Sticker Company website, I knew they would be a perfect fit for Bondville. Kelly was the winner of the The Wall Sticker Company Room Of The Year competition for her son Kirby's amazing room featuring the grey chevron removable wallpaper. I thought we would start this real kids room tour with Kirby's room - it's pretty amazing!

leif Australian skincare products

I recently came across the new Australian skincare brand leif on Temple & Webster and was wowed by the simple, chic packaging and use of Australian native botanical extracts with pure essential oils. I think this product range is pretty hot - Sydney restaurants Vue due Monde and Wildfire seem to think so too! I bought the Desert Lime, Vanilla and Orange Body Cleanser for myself and my friend Anni to use as a hand wash in the bathroom - it's chic and smells divine.

Here's a look-see at the gorgeous range of products on offer from leif:
You'll find some super-enticing combinations including Lemon Myrtle, Sandalwood & Eucalyptus; Wild Rosella & Alpine Pepper; Lillypilly, Eucalyptus & Tea Tree; and Kakadu Plum & Macadamia Nut.

The leif product range includes body cleanser, body balm, hand wash, hand balm all packaged beautifully in cardboard boxes - no extra wrapping required. The good folks at leif tell us that their products are "free from sodium lauryl sulphate, paraben, skin sensitising soaps, drying alcohols, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances and clogging mineral oil fillers, using only pure essential oil". Exactly what I'm looking for in a skincare product.

You can find leif products in the online store as well as stockists around Australia and online.

Ruby's 3rd Rainbow Confetti Birthday Party

I really connect with Photographer Danielle Trovato's sense of style and love her use of colour and clean, simple design. I've featured her daughter Ruby's bedroom here on Bondville before and it is still one of my favourites. So of course I asked Danielle if she would share some tips the effortlessly chic 3rd birthday party that she put together for Ruby. I love that it's not too fussy or complicated, with the focus on the amazing cake and the feature wall inspired by Beci Orpin's crafty-cool Find & Keep book. Happy birthday Ruby!

Organised by: Photographer Danielle Trovato (Ruby's mum!)
Location: At Home (Mt Martha, Mornington Peninsula, VIC)
Theme: Summer Rainbow Confetti!

From Madeit With Love

Tragically, over the summer holidays, Ipswich-based Tammy Boorer from Boorah Designs (handmade children's clothing and accessories) was killed in a car accident. The members of Madeit (where her Boorah Designs store was hosted) have rallied together to raise funds for the Boorer Family with a special shopping event tonight. If you would like to to participate, head to the From Madeit With Love Facebook page.

From Madeit:

The Madeit community recently heard of the tragic death of one of our members. Tammy Boorer and her husband were critically injured in a horrific car accident whilst traveling to their holiday destination. Their two children received minor injuries. Unfortunately Tammy, who was pregnant with her third child did not survive. Her husband Nathan is still in a critical condition in hospital. Tammy from boorah designs was a beautiful, creative soul who began selling on madeit in March 2009. Her signature patchwork skirts were loved by many. She was a devoted wife and dedicated mother who began her business by making clothes for her 2 children Zac aged 9 and Lilli aged 5. Madeit sellers are participating in “from Madeit with Love” an event being held specifically to raise funds for Tammy’s family. Participating Madeit sellers will be donating the proceeds from the sale of select items to the Ipswich Presbyterian Church who will be assisting the Boorer Family.

The shopping events starts tonight (13th February 2013) at 8pm. Head over to Madeit to participate.

Hush Now ikat bed linen for kids

I'm more than a little in love with this stripe and ikat combo bed linen for children by brand new Australian bedding label Hush Now. The orange stripes are fresh and look great against the navy ikat design - something very different and stylish for kids' bedrooms.

Hush Now designer Jillian Hefferan has designed a range of children's bed linen and bedroom decor in interesting limited edition colourways including a fun hot pink and black fretwork design, and more muted tones in polka dots too. Bed linen is 100% cotton and all designs include co-ordinating cushions and bunting options to complete the look.

The Hush Now website officially launches on 2nd March 2013, but you can order this design and many others now by contacting Jillian directly through the Facebook page. You can also find out about Hush Now's stall sat various children's markets around Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Thank you Jess for the heads-up!

Make: cover school books in style

My big girl starts school tomorrow and it's all systems go around here. We've been gathering supplies and books and labels and have been debating with friends the merits (or lack thereof) of my old nemesis - contact. I find it literally impossible to cover an exercise book or text book without a random bubble, which shouldn't really bother me, but - you know.

Luckily I spotted these beautifully-covered school books on Instagram the other day. I got in touch with Kara from Lulu Lucky in Brisbane to find out how she managed to avoid the dreaded contact and create something inspiring and stylish for school.

Kara designed the covers herself using Word and then printed them at Officeworks large-scale (A2). Each of the designs uses the same colour palette (black and white) with different fun patterns and an area for her son's name, class and subject. After covering the books with the paper, she slipped each book into a clear non-adhesive plastic cover to protect them from wear and tear. Ezibooks (also in Brisbane) has a selection of clear reusable covers that would work a treat.

You can also use the front cover design to slip into the clear front insert of a binder. Voila! Stylish, cool school books with reusable covers and nary a bubble in sight. Thanks Kara for sharing!

Eeni meeni miini moh and e3-M AW13 kids fashion launch

It's that fun time when the new season kids' fashion collections are starting to appear and I'm super-happy as always to give you an overview of the brand new eeni meeni miini moh and e3-M Autumn/Winter 2013 collection for babies and kids newborn to 12 years.

For the little ones 0-5 years, the eeni meeni miini moh AW13 stand-outs for me are the over-size polka dots (remember my polka dots trend forecast here?). I also adore the new vintage purple colourway and sweet peter pan collar for girls and the paddington jackets and cosy knits for boys. But my favourite piece is the eggshell bustle dress below. Heavenly! Let's take a look:

For the older kids (and the tricky-to-buy-for tweens), e3-M excels with age-appropriate pieces with plenty of street cred but that your parents will approve of too. Beat the cold-weather blues with autumnal tones and cosy grey knits and jackets. Silhouettes include roomy frills on top with skinny jeans for girls, and comfortable cargoes layered up for boys.

And don't forget the bubs with their very own collection for enfants 0-18 months. Could they be any cuter?

As a long-time Bondville sponsor, I've been able to get to know the eeni meeni miini moh team and their children's clothes very well over the past four years. In fact, my first article about this fabulous Australian lifestyle brand was in 2008! Each collection never fails to impress with age-appropriate designs and quality details. My own girls have both worn this special label for everyday play and special occasions and they truly do stand the test of time.

Head over to the eeni meeni miini moh and e3-M online store for the whole Autumn Winter 2013 collection. You can also read more about eeni meeni miini moh and e3-M here on Bondville.
