Calling for Blogroll Submissions

I'm revamping the Bondville Blogroll and looking to freshen up my list of blogs about design, kids, home, and Australia. I won't be able to list them all straight away, but will be rotating and refreshing the page every few months. I'm really excited - it's going to be a great, evolving, go-to resource for Aussies interested in design.

This submission is open to both Australian and international blogs. Submission cut-off date is 30th June 2010. Email me at { stephbond at gmail dot com } if you would like to be featured on the Bondville blogroll. Please include:
* your name
* your blog name
* your blog URL
* one sentence about your blog
* category: design/kids/home/Australia
* location: state and country
* your blog banner (125px x 125px, static only, smallest size you have)

I won't be able to respond to everyone or list everyone, but will let you know directly if and when your banner appears on the site. Feel free to submit again next time I call for submissions.

I'm really looking forward to checking out all your blogs!

Hip Products: Queen Bee Secrets healing balms

Ooh check this out. I found these adorable and great-smelling tins of goodness at the Eumundi Markets this week. Queen Bee Secrets are a range of healing skin balms made from all-Aussie botanicals, organic beeswax and royal jelly. If the balms are as great as the packaging, then these guys are a no-brainer.

The Queen Bee Secrets range includes Pain BEE Gone (for sore muscles and joints), Rapid BEE Repair (for damaged skin), Body BEE (for skin smoothing), Baby BUZZ (for bub's bum and bumps), BEE Radiant (for moisturising) and Bush BEE (for first aid). I would definitely throw one in my nappy bag for scrapes, mozzie bites, chafes, and boo boos.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, Diane Elliot created her range of balms after suffering cancer and looking for a natural way of caring for herself and her family. With a background in Aromatherapy, she established a lavender farm and created nurturing products using the essential oils from the property well as the wonderful beeswax from the bees that live there.

You can find Queen Bee Secrets in the online store and at the Eumundi Markets in Queensland.

Fishing, Family and Friends in the US

Hi everyone. We're back from our great family holiday to the US which included spectacular countryside in Virginia and West Virginia, Deep Creek Lake (pictured top) in western Maryland, my first time to Pittsburgh (pictured bottom), and the always fabulous Los Angeles.

In LA we feasted on great Mexican food, found an amazing merry-go-round and spent a day at the LA Zoo. Virginia and Maryland were all about family and fishing. A definite highlight was a trip to idyllic Catawba, VA in the Roanoke Valley for fantastic Southern-style home cooking (The Homeplace - magical!). I really enjoyed Pittsburgh where we visited the Carnegie Science Centre and the Duquesne Incline. Oh, and a 'Gelati' (layers of frozen custard and Italian ice) from Rita's that I will never forget. And of course I did a little shopping at my all-time favourite store, Whole Foods.

Before our move to Sydney we're sneaking in some time at the Sunshine Coast and I have found some fantastic designers and products to share with you over the next few weeks at the various markets up here. Stay tuned...

Drool-worthy Design: Blue Ginger Designs

I have a crush on the Australian textile design community. There is just so much talent here (just search for textiles on Bondville and you'll see what I mean). I recently found yet another great textile designer - Blue Ginger Designs - through the good folk over at greenolive design.

Kylie Bickerdike is the lass behind the label and is based in Buninyong, Victoria. Her range of textiles is perfect for home decor and accessories. These animal-stamped linen purses are just gorgeous don't you think? And check out the amazing men's ties that Kylie has recently designed. They would be fantastic for groomsmen and a hip groom.

You can find Blue Ginger Designs on Etsy and MadeIt (Australia). Check out more designs on the Blue Ginger Designs blog.
