Thanksgiving Pie in Sydney

Well the pie was amazing last weekend. Big thanks to Linda for using up her Libby's tinned pumpkin that our friend Greta smuggled in her suitcase on her visit from San Francisco. She made both a delicious pie and Aussie-style meringue for our Thanksgiving last weekend. Sweet pumpkin was such a strange concept for me to grasp initially but now I love all those lovely comforting flavours of a North American holiday season - pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, eggnog, cranberries, and gingerbread.

This week I also got to see the amazing new Harry Potter movie and had a fantastic adults-only dinner out with our neighbours at Red Lantern (we were pretty anxious - our taxi was an hour late and there was an accident on the eastern distributor, but the restaurant host called to let us know everything was OK and not to stress and offered us complimentary sparkling wine on arrival to help soothe the nerves - talk about fantastic service).

Wishing you all a great weekend (is that the sun peeking out?) with family and friends. I'll be finishing up Christmas cards and doing my Christmas shopping online so I can dodge the crowds at the mall. And hopefully I'll finish the Christmas dresses that I'm making for Big Girl Bondville and her cousins. Will share soon. Have a lovely break,
