Hip Products: Memi Designs homewares

I'm a big believer in embracing natural beauty and I wish I had a garden full of native Australian plants. We have a Macadamia, and I can see a She Oak and a Eucalyptus, but the garden doesn't attract the native wildlife like a true Aussie backyard would.

I also believe in embracing our distinctive Australian shapes and style in design, and am thrilled to find the work of Memi Designs. Based in Melbourne, Melanie Hayes of Memi Designs creates beautiful handmade textile homewares and gifts with a distinctly Australian flavour. Signature prints include She Oaks and Eucalypts and Melanie notes native Australian flora as her inspiration for her designs.

The current range includes cushions, tea towels, kitchen textiles, bags, doorstops and snakes (to keep out those draughts!), hot water bottle covers, canvas art and lovely padded letters and cats for the littlies. All linen and cotton fabrics are printed by hand, locally, using a traditional silkscreen method in beautiful natural tones.

You can find Memi Designs at stockists across Australia and online.

These are lovely. I particularly love the old bench with the gorgeous natural coloured cushions.

I love it when design can look Australian without being cliche or predictable. Gorgeous subtle colour too!
