Drool-worthy Design: Sophie Milne

I'm really quite excited by Victoria-based Sophie Milne's ceramics. They are modern and delicate and I see flickers of nature in all of them - a river stone here, a perfect pile of twigs there, a slate blue storm cloud-filled sky, a granite outcrop, a rusty-hued termite mound.

I'm particularly taken with the refreshment set which has multiple possibilities for function and display (for tea, for flowers, for breakfast, for jewellery!). And the stone vessels (pictured) are utterly delightful.

Now is great time to pick up one of Sophie's pieces as her star is soaring; even since I have discovered her work, she has been profiled by Natalie at Daily Imprint, and featured on Modamuse. You can find a list of Australian stockists on her Website (and you can buy online from Moose who ships internationally), and find out more about her work on her thoughtful blog Six Hundred Degrees.
